TNC ADHD ASSESSOR ACADEMY
Practical, clinically led training for qualified healthcare professionals who want to develop the knowledge, assessment skills and clinical reasoning required for high-quality ADHD assessment.
Learn the theory. Practise the skills. Develop with supervision.
Qualified clinician. But how do you become an ADHD assessor?
You may already have years of clinical experience, but moving into ADHD assessment can be surprisingly difficult. Training can provide knowledge, while assessor roles often ask for previous assessment experience. This can leave clinicians wondering how they are supposed to bridge the gap between learning about ADHD assessment and developing the practical skills to undertake it well. The TNC ADHD Assessor Academy is being developed to help bridge that gap.
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE → LEARN → OBSERVE → PRACTISE → SUPERVISION → DEVELOP
WHO IS THE ACADEMY FOR?
Built for clinicians.
The Academy is intended for appropriately qualified professionals interested in developing ADHD assessment practice.
Registered Nurses • Psychologists • Occupational Therapists • Social Workers • Doctors • Other eligible registered healthcare professionals
Eligibility will depend on professional registration, clinical background, experience and the requirements of the training pathway.
NOT JUST THEORY
Assessment is a clinical skill. It needs to be practised.
High-quality ADHD assessment involves more than knowing diagnostic criteria. Assessors need to gather and weigh evidence, explore developmental history, consider differential diagnoses and comorbidity, recognise risk, formulate clinically and communicate conclusions clearly.
LIVE TEACHING
Interactive, clinically led learning.
CASE-BASED LEARNING
Work through realistic assessment scenarios.
SIMULATED ASSESSMENTS
Develop interviewing and assessment skills through practice.
CLINICAL REASONING
Develop differential diagnosis and formulation skills.
REPORT WRITING
Learn to turn assessment evidence into clear, defensible clinical reports.
FEEDBACK & SUPERVISION
Reflect, receive feedback and continue developing.
Training is only the beginning.
The challenge is developing the clinical reasoning, practical assessment skills and experience to use that knowledge in real assessment practice.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
A curriculum grounded in assessment practice.

From learning to practice
CORE ACADEMY
Approximately 8 weeks of structured teaching and applied learning.
PRACTICE & DEVELOPMENT
Approximately 6–12 weeks of supported skills development depending on previous experience and learning needs.
SUPERVISION & FEEDBACK
Case discussion, simulated practice, report-writing development and reflective clinical learning.
CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT
Opportunities for ongoing clinical supervision, CPD and further skills development.
Completion of training does not automatically establish competency for independent ADHD assessment. Development towards assessor practice depends on professional background, experience, demonstrated competencies and the requirements of individual employers or assessment providers.
TRAINING WITH THE REAL WORLD IN MIND
We understand that completing training is only part of the journey. The next question is often: ‘How do I actually move into ADHD assessment work?’ TNC has connections with recruiters and organisations working within the ADHD and neurodevelopmental assessment sector. This gives us insight into some of the skills, experience and standards assessment providers may look for when recruiting ADHD assessors.
TRAIN → PRACTISE → DEVELOP → BECOME ROLE-READY → EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES
Where appropriate, TNC may also be able to support suitably qualified and experienced Academy graduates to explore assessor opportunities, including introductions to recruiters or assessment providers where suitable opportunities are available.
Completion of the TNC ADHD Assessor Academy does not guarantee employment or assessor work. Recruitment, competency assessment, onboarding and appointment decisions remain with individual employers, recruiters and assessment providers.
